A rotisserie oven turns food on a spit or in a basket while it cooks, so the whole piece is exposed to the heat evenly. Most are countertop units sized for a whole chicken or two. Some are dedicated rotisserie ovens; others are convection ovens that add a spit as one of several functions.

The six models below cover 12-pound Ronco ovens, a large 35 quart unit, two NutriChef designs and a 47.5 quart convection oven. Sizes, capacity and controls come from each product’s listing page. We have not used these ovens ourselves. Performance claims are the makers’ own.

Care and Setup

  • Check the spit clears the heating element before you start.
  • Tie poultry so wings and legs stay close to the body.
  • Empty the drip tray after each use.
  • Let the unit cool before removing the glass door.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Buying on quart size without checking the interior height for your bird.
  • Ignoring the footprint under wall cabinets.
  • Assuming every accessory in a photo is in the box.
  • Expecting a toaster-style oven to hold as large a roast as a dedicated one.

Rotisserie Oven FAQ

Dedicated or convection oven?

A dedicated model is built around the spit. A convection oven with a spit adds baking and toasting but takes more space.

How is this different from an air fryer with a rotisserie?

These are larger ovens made for whole birds and roasts. See our air fryer rotisserie guide for compact air fryers with the same feature.
