Deep water culture (DWC) is a hydroponic setup in which plant roots hang in an oxygenated nutrient solution inside a bucket. An air pump and air stone supply the oxygen, and kits add net baskets, tubing and sometimes a top drip line. Some kits are a single bucket, others bundle two, four or more, and the recirculating versions link the buckets together.

Model EHW0104C-DR, a recirculating deep water culture kit with four 5 gallon polypropylene buckets and one reservoir, top drip and an air pump with air stones and a water level device. VEVOR says the buckets have sealing rings and describes a negative-pressure circulation of the nutrient solution. The kit weighs 22 pounds. The title spells buckets as “Buckles”, a typo in the listing.
Suits: linked buckets that share a reservoir. Strengths: recirculation and sealing rings. Weaknesses: more plumbing than independent buckets. Skip it if you want separate, independent plants.
