A built-in gas grill is a grill head made to drop into a masonry island or an outdoor kitchen frame. Unlike a freestanding grill it has no cart, so the cutout size, the fuel type and the gas connection matter as much as the burners. Most heads are made for either natural gas or propane, and the fuel is set by the model number.
The six heads below come in 30 and 32 inch widths, with propane and natural gas versions. Sizes, burner counts and BTU figures come from each product’s listing page, and where two numbers on one listing disagree we say so. We have not used these grills ourselves. Material and performance claims are the makers’ own, and installation should follow the maker’s instructions and local codes.

What to Look For
| Feature | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Fuel type | Natural gas and propane versions are separate models |
| Cutout size | The head must fit the island opening you plan to build |
| Burners and BTU | Total BTU is a maker’s figure, not a measure of cooking quality |
| Cooking area | Square inches show how much food fits on the grate |

Built-In Gas Grill FAQ
Is a built-in grill the same as a freestanding one?
No. A built-in head has no cart and is made to sit in an island or frame, so you plan the opening around it.
Can a grill head switch between fuels?
Listings here are sold as natural gas or propane models. Ask the maker before changing fuel.
