A dog couch is a bed shaped like a sofa, with a bolster or sides. A couch protector is a mat or blanket that sits on your own sofa to catch hair and spills. Both give a dog a defined spot, and both keep fur off the furniture. Which you want depends on whether your dog should sleep on its own bed or share yours.
The six picks below include both types. Details come from the product listings, and we have not used these products with dogs ourselves. Check size ranges and weight limits on the product page, and measure your dog.

Choosing a Size
- Measure your dog nose to tail while lying down.
- Choose a bed or mat at least as long as that measure.
- Check the listing’s weight guidance.
- Pick a washable cover; dog beds get dirty.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Choosing a size by breed alone.
- Using a mat without an anti-slip back on a leather sofa.
- Skipping regular washing.
- Expecting a mat to protect against claws.
